TS!UNDERSWAP Demo v2.0.6 Released


Howdy!

The changes in this version (v2.0.6) include:

Changes & Additions

  • Changed "Mettacrit" to "Mettalot." (for context, see our April 2024 Dev Update)

  • Changed mentions of "Ser Scratchalot" to "Ser Scratch."

  • Changed Jeremy overworld sprites to an updated design.

  • Changed dialogue that mistakenly called Alphys "commander" instead of "admiral."

  • Changed Harry and Larry saying "ice cream" instead of "nice cream" in Evacuation Neutral.

  • Changed "equip" button for C.Bones Patch to be selectable, but without a function, to address players accidentally dropping the item when attempting to view info.

  • Added new sound effects for Papyrus: "flying" and "barking."

  • Added a new scene after feeding Jeremy the candy.

  • Updated some names in the credits.

Localization Updates

  • Added many missing sprites to the list of localizable sprites.

  • Updated each ACT in battle to draw separately, preventing spacing issues in certain languages.

  • Font character X offsets can now have default values, as well as more concise syntax for ranges of characters.

  • Translation files have been updated to include a few extra lines of text, including one that was erroneously missing previously. There are also a few modified lines of text, along with many lines updated due to character name changes.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed one Cowboy Hat sprite missing its C.Bones Patch variant.

  • Fixed an NPC animation playing when it shouldn't.

  • Fixed the save slot menu sometimes displaying the wrong room name.

  • Fixed battle warning flashes not affected by low VFX setting.

  • Fixed incorrect dialogue order at the end of Ruined Home in the Ruthless route.

  • Fixed some Papyrus hitbox issues.

  • Fixed incorrect text in Late Evacuation Neutral route.

  • Fixed slight continuity errors with aborting Ruthless onto Evacuation Neutral, with changes to how the game checks for route flags.

  • Fixed being able to exceed the limits of Muffet shop donations.

  • Fixed a softlock in the Crossbones Pretend battle.

  • Fixed certain knowledge not persisting across resets.

  • Fixed Sans's name not updating in the Journal after he says it.

  • Fixed the low difficulty "hit cycle" mechanic not accounting for invincibility frames.


In lieu of a progress report, we'd like to give an official heads-up on some changes we'll eventually be rolling out in a future version.

The short answer is that we'll be updating the following assets in-game:

  • Harry and Larry's dialogue portraits, default battle poses, and any battle sprites dependent on the originals' poses as needed (re-styled by Devilredd.)

  • "Let's Boogie!" and "Kountdown" (current works-in-progress by Devilredd.)

The longer answer is that back in our March 2023 Progress Report, we made an announcement regarding action we'd taken against a former team member following disturbing allegations made (of which they'd confessed to) -- including their removal from the team, and collaboratively remaking their sole contributions to remove their style and influence from the game.

While we had hoped the changes we made would have successfully accomplished this goal, aspects that were reminiscent of this person's style carried through without us realizing. Thankfully, someone familiar with this person's style privately voiced concerns which allowed us to address:

  • Certain Boogiemen sprites (dialogue portraits and default battle poses) made by others resembling their style.

  • Jeremy's sprites made by others based on the design they made (the design has now been updated by Depresso, with sprites made by them and Chip Potato.)

  • Certain stylistic / compositional elements of "Let's Boogie!" and "Kountdown," despite the songs receiving overhauls to their instrumentation and other aspects, resembling their style from both themes' original iterations.

We can't promise when these changes will fully roll out -- due to the number of assets we're remaking, how they'll be implemented / animated, and the logistics of determining which assets we'd also need to make changes to (i.e. battle sprites that don't require changing on their own, but will need updating for consistency with the new default battle poses.)

We're also updating our version of GameMaker for development, which means we'll have to apply these changes to both the Demo 3.0 and 2.0 branches individually -- since if we were to release a new 2.0 version after upgrading, we'd need to test the entire game to make sure nothing breaks amidst the various engine updates.

Our official translations for Spanish (Español), Brazilian Portuguese (Português Brasileiro), and Dutch (Nederlands) are still in-progress. Ideally, these will be released whenever they're ready.
