Splatoon Island is a fan-made fake game created especially for an April Fools video.
But it doesn't have to be just a video. Why not (sort of) play it yourself?
While the game isn't meant to enjoy the gameplay (since it doesn't have any to start with), it will let you change the appearances of the Inklings and adjust camera angles to take screenshots! Just the way the April Fools video was made!

or HTML5 (via browser. But with poor performance)
(Not compatible with mobile devices. Ironic, but true)
Known issues as of 1.5:
-Non-Inkling related settings don't save.
-Certain scenes look terrible in Landscape view.
-Some texts don't show properly.
-Some special Inklings show the wrong accessories on certain scenes.
