This is a very good and faithful port of the original Sonic 1! Haven't tried it myself but from what I saw online there are just a few minor glitches that you could fix. There is a chance for some hiccups being given to your pc but I deem this game SONIC THE HEDGEHOG FREE DOWNLOAD NO VIRUS!!!!!

HEY EVERYONE!! DELETION TUTORIAL IF ANYONE NEEDS IT!!!!
Step 1: CTRL + R to open the run thing. Run "cmd", this opens terminal.
Step 2: Get the EXACT filename for sonic.exe. Should look something like C:\Users\rowen\Downloads but with your user and it'd have the actual filename, not just downloads (This caused me to delete my entire downloads folder. Don't do that)
Step 3: Type in the exact line below, but put "filename" as the actual filename.
del filename
Step 4: It'll give you a yes or no prompt. Type y for yes.
Step 5: It should delete it! I think. I wasn't able to do this exactly, since I screwed up, but I hope it works for someone else.
As a .exe critic,
This was a really decent Sonic.exe, the sprites were clean and smooth to watch, the deaths was actually fun. but the only problem i had with the game is that it was another walking simulator, as any sonic.exe, of course it will be that.
It does have a few bugs that people have came to me for in a discord server, like in the Eggman level. i was walking for like 1 or 2 minutes, and when i pressed "Z" (the Jump Button), it brought me to the next eggman part. I don't know if we are supposed to know that, but eh. And at the infamous "I Am God" part, that part was buggy for me. I didn't get the jumpscare trigger and it was in a black screen until after 1 minute, it came back to my desktop, dunno if that's a bug lol.
But besides that, it was a good game that .exe youtubers or players can finally play without a shitty story lol.

I just can't keep doing this, holy shit. I'm so fucking tired and I just want it gone. If you want to play his, its "game", you probably need to disable your anti-virus. Don't fucking blame me if it goes to shit for you.
