More idea's then time.

Posted On 2/8/2010 By SAW_GameDesign

I have a habbit(or disorder) of coming up with more concepts and ideas for games then I have time for.

Thus I'm starting a new project, which is more of an experiment then anything else.  If you don't know anything about voxels, its basicly a system of rendering scenes with cubes based in a 3 dimensional space.  Smaller cubes, the more realistic and organic things can look.

I've jumped back and forth between playing with voxel tech and making some simulations.  I've used Ken Silvermen's voxlap for a few things, he's the one who created the Build engine, responsible for Duke3d and all its spawns.

So my diversion is to create a dungeon crawler similar to Eye of the Beholder and Lands of Lore, but using 3d, polygon created voxels.  I'm keeping the overall dimensions for objects and walls to a low res of 16 cubic voxels/3d pixels.

For an example of the 2d dungeon crawler, I'm uploading it to check out here, its titled The Crawl.  The title has moved on from a 2d game to 3d and as a rpg dungeon crawl maker.  Thats on hold until I can get a complete license to GLBasic for its recreation.

Some download links don't work there, and before I rerelease some demos of the old dungeon editors need a little cleanup before I put them out.  They also would be download only due to file handling and creation.
