Trabae is a platformer with an innovative twist.  Dynamically switch the gravity from 2d platforming to 3d platforming in order to reach the end.

Category: Platformer
File Size: 1.9 mb(zipped)
GM Version: GM6
Vista Compatible: yes

Soon I'll update the game with more levels and add a custom level creator.

Let me know if you find any bugs or have any suggestions.

-------------------------

Update BR3

Co-op Added

Customizeable controls (Jump and Switch Gravity only(and only Alpha Numeric characters(A-Z 0-9)))

Improved Level Selecter

Improved Level Editor (You can now make Co-op levels)

 I've included 15 custom levels to play in case you're tired of the old levels.  10 single player and 5 co-op.(If any of them are too hard it's probably a level made by one of my little brothers)  If you download the game make sure to unzip it to play the Custom levels.

In co-op Player 2 switches the gravity to 3d platformer and Player 1 switches the gravity back to 2d platformer. The big orange/yellow block is sort of like a button, both players need to be on it in order to make the small orange blocks dissapear.

Here are the controls for Player 2(You'll need a controller):

"Left" joystick: Move

"3": Jump

"2": Switch

A lot of computer controllers are different so you'll probably just have to figure out the controls on your own.

The next update will probably take a long time.  I've pretty much decided to make a 180 degree turn with the 'style' of the game.  I won't do anything with the gameplay.  I'll just be giving Trabae a much needed face-lift.  Hopefully I don't completely ruin it.

Have fun :->

Thanks for all your comments. I just wanted to update you all on how it's coming along.
I'm hard at work on the level editor now, and I gotta say, it's going to be great.
I'm also working on some music. I've added my first sound track to the page. Check it out and let me know what you think (The song is still a work in progress though, so don't expect too much)
And last but not least I've added some background flare,(see screenshots)
I haven't actually updated the game yet but I'm hoping to upload the new version either tonight or tomorrow.

Once again thanks for all you're kind words and suggestions.

Very unique game, however I have a few critiques. I feel that the pace of the game should be a little faster, and also that the graphics could definitely use some more variety and improvements in how they look. I do like how you can zoom out with space bar, but I think it'd be cool if it would show at the angle that you are currently in, instead of making everything look flat no matter what. Definitely room for improvement; I'll give it a 4 for now. Great job on this. I hope to see more games from you in the future! :)

This has been a suggested feature here, but I can't really feature it unless (as the other guys have said) it's gets a lot of polish. I look forward to seeing what you do or don't do with it. \o

This game is great, it only needs to be polished, perhaps if you changed the loading bar, added some music, and some special effects to the background, you would have a feature worthy game. I shall withhold rating until you update the game. I want to see what you do with it.
I agree with what Matt said, I would prefer a z/x control scheme, and a title screen would be nice. I do however think that what is lacking visually, is something in the background. Perhaps if you used some dynamic visuals, or did a low poly render of something, the game might be more aesthetically pleasing. Keep working on this game, I see potential in it.

I don't know what's happening, but GameJolt really has been getting some amazingly creative games lately. You, sir, are on to a winner. When you get a more substantial amount of levels and a level editor (zomg, brilliant), you'd have a feature worthy game- and it'll probably need more than that. It really is rare for such innovation (especially from most GMers, unfortunately). Something that was annoying though was the key layout as people like me with laptops and mousepads infront of the keyboard usually rather use a Z/X setup for '2 button' games. What I suggest is a title screen and with that options to change controls and toggle fullscreen mode plus, when it's done, the level editor (I guess you had this in mind already). To polish and sweeten up the game I think you need to firstly give the 'ball' more actual 3D depth both for the aesthetics but also that it's troublesome to know 'where' you are and it causes the player to make a calculated time to change dimensional perspective, plus some simply background (particle effects are nice and easy) and maybe more theme-based graphics: for example, 'sci-fi' wherein the 'blocks' have wires trickling across a steel based block, plus some extra background features to give more of the sense of people jumping from one area to another.

Good luck for whatever you do with Trabae, and thanks for putting such an enjoying game on GameJolt.

That's a really nice concept for a game - well done. The gameplay is fluid and the level design innovative. It's also at a good difficulty for me - it's hard to find games which require skill and thought nowadays. Good job! If I were you, I would add about 2 lines at the start to tell the player the controls, as that was unclear. (Arrows to move, S to jump, A to switch dimension). Maybe add a line or title per level, too?

Overall this is a very nice game, so keep up the good work!
