The game is generally good. Graphics are well designed and sounds are suitable. I liked movements of character the things he could do and also sword combos. But I think game is a little short though story is good but it ends fast and everything changes suddenly.

I really have to accept that this is one of the best games that I ever played!!
The story, the graphics, the music, the gameplay, the extras.. ALL the game is excellent in my opinion. To describe this game I use the word OUTSTANDING!!!

I actually really liked the story line, it made me feel as if I was playing the game for a to resolve a problem that Blue cares about although, some parts do feel as if they could be left out and the game would be exactly the same.

Math ninja's right about the writing aspect (and the overabundant health). The dialogue is stilted and I don't care quite enough about the story to deal with quicktime events (especially pointless ones).

But I still enjoyed the hell out of this. It felt like a faster-paced Strider with dueling elements reminiscent of Prince of Persia.

That is, I enjoyed it up until the first boss fight. Then it turned anime-as-fuck, and took FOREVER to whittle the bastard down to zero health. You have a good thing going with combat being quick and brutal -- why ruin it with drawn-out anime battles for boss fights? It slows the gameplay to a crawl and just feels tedious (and cliched) as all hell. Gimme a guy with three HP who's quick on the draw and knows how to block and parry, and I'll remember it a LOT more fondly than some Dragonball Z asshole who takes ten thousand hits to drop.

Not a bad game, but I think it could have been a lot better. I felt that the background and the character sprites didn't meld together too well, but I liked the Level Design and the Boss battles. The enemy AI was incredibly basic and they generally didn't pose much of a threat, however, the counterattack mechanic was a nice addition (although it made the game incredibly easy).

WARNING! Review contains spoilers.

The most glaring problem with this game is the writing--it's terrible. The progression of events was disjointed, the characters were one-dimensional and the dialogue was bland. And the plot twist. Red and Blue were brothers? Really?

If a game developer is not a writer and doesn't know one, don't try to inject something half-assed because it will make the entire game feel cheap. Instead, they can get away with a few lines of backstory and setting and let the gamer's imagination do the rest with the visuals and sound providing a medium. This will be infinitely superior to amateur, cliche writing.

As for the gameplay, the controls were sluggish and combat was a disjointed mess. I liked that a combo system was included, but nothing meaningful ever came of it. Walljumping was slow and didn't tend to recognize the character's proximity to walls very well.

The enemies fall into two varieties: the ones that use swords and the ones with throw stuff. They may have different skins and have slightly different attacks but they all feel like you're fighting the same two enemies over and over again. The boss fights, on the other hand, were very nice. They felt well thought-out and were overall the highlight of the game.

As for the difficulty, it was trivial. Despite the clunky controls, each level had so many health powerups you never, ever have to worry about life.

The level design was decent, if not a little overly linear. However, levels were designed well enough that I never minded.

The visuals were mediocre, as any perusal of the screenshots will reveal. The sound was well done, but never fit with the flow of the game or the atmosphere of any of the locations or cutscenes.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend playing this game. Future games from the same developer, maybe. But this definitely isn't the one.

Very, very nice platformer. The level design and gameplay is awesome! I do agree with Link3000 that sometimes fighting is a bit annoying, but it's not a huge deal.

I never knew; it didn't click in my head that you were *that* Banov.

Assassin Blue is currently tied for 1st with Iji as my favorite GM game of all time. There was something instantly nostalgic when I played it for the first time that I still feel is the gold standard for games. It could be the story, the smooth gameplay, the interesting challenges, the memorable graphics and music, even the bosses. Any one of those could be considered this game's outstanding feature because, let's be honest, this game is just really that good. At least in my eyes.

All the characters were well developed, and they integrated into the game's plot seamlessly. There were no 'wait; how did that work?' moments in the game because of how well everything fit together. In addition to having such a memorable plot, the actual gameplay was so fluid that it could get at least a 4/5 from me just from that one factor.

I think the only downside to this game is the AI, and even that is overlookable and okay depending how you see it. The enemies react in a regular fashion, and while it takes a little while to coordinate your actions with those reactions, it becomes very de-ja-vu while fighting. This especially annoyed me while fighting bosses, who really should be the most dynamic of all the characters, the most fluid, the most remarkable and memorable, because they earn the title of 'boss'. Instead, they dash, they jump, they flip the shit out all over you, but in a static way. They'll dash, then pause giving you the right time to attack. The thing I dislike about this style of boss-fights, while a common type, is that they don't have you plan your own actions. You dodge until they tell you when you should attack. An example of a good boss fight, in my mind, is the Meta Knight fight from Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland. I kept a save file dedicated to fighting him again and again. Meta Knight would dash, slice, and uppercut you like hell, again and again, but after doing so, he woul

Ahh, GJ cut me off.

...he would re-examine the situation and either break into another attack or block. The fight was actually difficult because of how you had to trick him to give you openings to damage him. Again, though, this is just my opinion. Lot's of people love these kinds of fights.

The reason I wrote such a long review is because I have amazingly fond memories of this game, and I feel like whatever I wrote when I reviewed/commented it on YoYoGames wasn't enough. You must be a pretty cool guy to make this game.

I loved this game! It has a nice (not great, but consistent and pleasing) graphic style, it´s entertaining and challenging (but not difficult), it has very good music and more than adequate sound effects and, above all, it´s FUN! The downsides have all been mentioned before (corners, dialogue, too short etc...) and shouldn´t put anyone off playing this little gem of a game...
