You could consider this a hand drawn version Ad Nauseum.
The game consists of three levels: day, afternoon, and night. Each level features different enemies and a different style (shapes, cartoons and numbers and letters).
To power up your gun, collect falling + signs and avoid - ones.
Features three difficulties.
Made in two days for the GameJolt Game Jam.
Completely hand drawn.
*Disable blurring effect in game if you are using Windows 7 and have had problems.

Gameplay was fun and interesting, but I felt kind of "thrown in there" when it started. A tutorial would have been awesome to have. This is awesomely put together for a Game Jam game, but even something as minimal as a screen displaying the controls (or even a simple text object) at the start of the game would have been really great to have.
There was also not a huge sense of level progression. Your description says that there were three levels of this game, but I only ever saw the first one. Admittedly, this was partially due to my lack of skill at bullet-hell-esque games, but also because I quit before I knew that this wasn't just an "endless mode"/highscore-oriented sort of game. There was no immediately apparent way for me to tell how far I was in the level, or what the overall level goal was (kill this many enemies, survive this long, reach this point goal, etcetera)
Otherwise, this is a very nice game. I give it a well-deserved 4 and hope to see more awesomeness from you in the future!

Perfect game ? No, ther are still some room for improvement:
1) Once again, whole action is consolidated around abusing poor ‘Z’ button. If there are no limitations to fire constantly, why not enable auto-fire option ?
2) It was way too short – I only started to get really excited on level 3 and eventually game just ended with nearly-mocking (yes, I like it too) request for playing again.
3) Sometimes It’s hard to navigate through constant screen shivering and dodge words on the night stage. Also, lost hearts should be indicate more clearly (different color f.e.)
4) It requires some (too much for casual game) time to get that you can move vertically as well).
