Troll Song is a retro point and click game series starring a race that is so often portrayed as simply the strong, dumb brute - Trolls.  This game series will give them a new mythology and culture.  You play as Clod, one of only a handful of trolls to survive an evil plot to wipe them out completely - the game starts with Clod simply trying to escape and free the other remaining trolls, but the plot will encompass much more.

On 29th January 2015 we released the Troll Song Verse One - Completely Stoned.  Following this release we are hard at work making the rest of the game, which will contain 5 verses in all.  The game will feature a wide variety of puzzle types but essentially will focus on a strong story and characterisation.

We're currently aiming for a release date in Q3 2015.

First of all, Troll Song is wonderfully charming, we enjoyed Verse One quite a bit. To the devs or to anyone else interested, you might be happy to hear that we're doing a short YouTube series and analysis of Troll Song - Verse One.

Feel free to check it out on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Zd5vn1FX1N8

And we welcome feedback, conversation, and game design discussion from everyone!

Thanks guys! It's always a bit strange watching someone else play a game you've made and you're the second to video it and struggle with the first few puzzles, but I enjoyed watching it and listening to your commentary, and certainly hope you like the next part of the game.

Thanks again! :-)

Thanks guys! Glad you liked it (and didn't get TOO stuck :-D)

I think you (along with our artist!!) went through the entire chapter without using the LOOK command (right-click). Think we're going to have to have a reminder about that pop up every time the game starts...!!

I actually only found out about the Trolololololol guy after we'd released the initial Troll Song demo!

Would it have affected my choice of name? Hmm... I dunno. The other contender was "Trollish Chronicles".

Could also have gone with "Troll Patrol", I suppose...

Or maybe a more laid-back "Droll Troll Stoll"?

Perhaps a sporting follow up "Troll In Goal"?

Or a marine "The Troll Atoll"?

Okay... stopping now...

Troll as in the guy who goes around the internet making impractical jokes that are deadly funny? I thought you meant this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkTb9GP9lVI

Clever and nicely made. How many developers made this?

Essentially 3 of us - Andrea on graphics and animation, Jim on programming and myself on game design and sound effects.

(Of course you could add to that a couple of musicians, a handful of voice actors and another handful of testers. But basically, it's the 3 of us. :-D)

Glad you enjoyed it! :-) I have to say that the game really opens up in Verse 2, so hopefully you'll enjoy the full game even more (we're working on it, we're working on it...)

Thanks so much! There are many ways in which the game we're developing right now is very much superior to the demo, I'm really looking forward to seeing people#s reaction to it. (But not just yet, obviously. :-D)

Thanks - I'm amazed to see that people are still discovering the game and finding it worth making a comment on! Just finished nearly 100 lines of VA for Clod, we're getting really close to release of the full Verse One now - watch this space!

This demo has been sitting on my computer for months as I played and recorded console games instead. I just finished playing through Troll Song: Verse One - Completely Stoned demo and I have to say that while I had a little trouble at first, it's a very interesting game. The transition from pixelated to hand drawn was funny to me, especially as he's standing there looking around. The phrases that he "roars" make me laugh, and even though it's a very short demo, I'm sure that I'll play through it every now and again just to hear "FIIIIING" or "ROOOOOOTS!" At some point, I'll be recording the demo to show on my channel. Hopefully that will get more attention for this project and give you guys some motivation. It's not often that I say I enjoy a demo, but this one I did. It doesn't matter how long it takes for the finished product to come out, I just want it to have the same quality (or better) content.

You have no idea how much the comment means to me. I really appreciate it, and so glad you got round to playing it in the end!

Current news: I have a new programmer, getting an artist on board is proving a little trickier but I'll keep going. I want someone who can match or even improve the existing art if at all possible, because I feel Tino created a lovely style and it fits the game perfectly.

More news soon (I hope!)
