How To Play

     Watch your blue and red selectors.  They show where you will build or break blocks, respectively.  Crafting is very similar to Minecraft: put items into the crafting table to craft them. Right-click on the crafting table to open it and your inventory. The crafting templates are the same for the items we chose to put in.  Here are a few recipes to try.  Collect better matierals (wood->stone->iron->diamond) to create better tools.  Pickaxes are the only tools which can break stone.  Axes break wood tiles faster, and shovels break dirt, sand, and leaves very quickly.

w = wood, p = plank, x = sticks, s = stone, i = stone, d = diamond

Wow! i don't have the paid for version of minecraft, and I think this is a good alternative. It works well and does minecraft in 2D nicely without glitchy controls or anything.

However, whats the point of coal? You can't craft anyhting with it.

It was okay. This is one of the few MineCraft demakes in which I could actually get some where. :P Thanks for entering.

Neat game! For Mac OS X, launch the game with Java 1.6 with the following command:

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Commands/java -jar MiniCraft.jar

Holy crap -jar argument I didn't know about! Sweet I can play now! Good job on it by the way - I prefer this over the other minecraft demakes. Even though the music is the only sound it provides a soothing atmosphere and the pace for destroying blocks is just right (not too boring, but not trivial either). Once the judging is done you should probably pack it with both a .exe and .app that can run it :D

Grabbed from forum -
This is generally to the judges,
I posted my game as a .jar file so that any OS can play it (Good!). One of our users commented on my game that I should have packaged it as a windows executable (Not as good). I'm obviously not going to change any of my files mid-judging, but if people need an exe of my game to play it (I have it and it's ready to go) just let me know and I'll put it up.

Okay this should have been packed as an exe or something but I spent the time to download the JDK anyway and add the environmental variables and it still won't work. Hope the judges know how to run it!
