Our Game, 'Dear Haley', created for GameJolt Contest #8, which lasted for 1 week.

Me (Christian Bradley) & and partner(DeShawn Bellfield) have slaved over this game for the past week, so we do hope you like it!

Be sure to right click and go into full-screen mode for the optimal experience! (Also wear headphones, and turn your game up really loud! And play in the dark! :3 )

The music and dark atmosphere is creepy, which is good! :D I find the game a bit hard though, wasn't able to interact with anything or find any skills. Maybe if the game had more lit areas that helped me get my bearing, and then just add dark places where you had to go thru proceed. Now I see the same lamp asset again and wonder if I have been here before...

First off, thanks for the comment. I didn't realize it was 'that' dark. Maybe adjust your brightness?

Aside from that, finding skill sticks and fear posters is supposed to be a challenge, although as luck would have it, most people find at least one of them while they're wandering around in a stage. I mean, the first stage literally has a path to 'both' of them. I made it that way so people could find them easily, and understand that there would be collectibles to find throughout the game.

In reference to the 'going past the same place', it's a labyrinth. That's kind of what's supposed to happen. xD There are skills you find that can help you navigate, like the Cookie skill, which pretty much places a beacon in the sky where you throw it.

All in all, there is a lot that could have been better had we more time for the contest. Thanks for the feedback!

The game is great and fun, however there are some things that could be improved. The floor doesn't seem to have a texture, or not a visible one at least. the walls are also very simple, though the bump map does help a lot. A little more detail on the walls would go a long way here. The music is great, though some variation wouldn't hurt.

The GUI does need some work as buttons shine feels more like I'm using a Mac than I'm playing a scary game. And, while Mac's and Horror games bring out the same feeling for me, I don't really think that's what most people experience.

Interestingly the skybox used in the intro/menu is not seen in the levels.

If the levels had more detail to them and it was more than just a labyrinth I could see this being a great game.

tho this type of game is still out of my league to code and create right now this was actually really cool! this is the firt game ive played from a developer that looks like this. Im blamimg the fact that im not used to the controls you have, but that was really the only thing that was hard for me to learn. But like i said thats just because im not used to that kind of control. I really liked it tho!

Pretty fun game, not scary scary but turning around and seeing her is pretty creepy lol, I know in the description is says to use full-screen but played in windows while on chat and found is really hard to navigate, apart from this great work in the week deadline :D

One lesson I'm definitely learning the hard way is that no matter what cool features or content are in your game, it means nothing if the game isn't playable! The Unity Web Player seems kinda flaky to me; perhaps next game we do, I'll make it a standalone instead. Thanks for the feedback!

It is a surprisingly simple concept where the player goes in thinking ahhh this will be done in no time... the you turn around and see HER... and well yeah.. what can I say.. fits with the theme ;) I hate being chased in a game, which may have made this worse for me lol I didn't use a mouse and couldn't turn whilst moving forward and obviously didn't have a mouse wheel to change skills, so you could add a button for this too maybe?

Ah! I didn't even think about users that didn't have a mouse...and I program on my laptop! That's definitely something I should've considered.

And I'm sorry, please don't have any nightmares or anything! Lol.
