- Game Overview
Daves Trails is a SIMPLE little puzzle game. Nothing fancy, but Excellent if you are the puzzle solving type. You basically just have to put colored tiles together to complete a trail on a 7 X 7 tile grid. (It IS NOT a slider puzzle)
It looks simple, is very easy to learn, but it will slowly addict you if you are the puzzle solving type of person.
It was optimized for WinXP 1024 X 768 display but should work as low as 800 X 600.
It is window scalable so you can leave it running on your desktop while you do other things. You can even let it running Minimized. And yes it also has a save feature so that you can save the game before you close it. (If running Vista, you have to run as administrator for the Save Feature to work)
This is the Web version of Daves Trails due to upload limitations. All 47 levels will still work fine, but the background resolutions are lowered. Also some of the music files were deleted so you will notice songs repeating (If, of course, you even want the music on in the 1st place) Download and give it a try. You have nothing to lose but a little time. (It's almost a 38 Megabyte Download!)
LOL>>>You'd be surprised how many people have written us and said: "We just wanted to try 'One More Level' before we quit".
Hope it brings you a few weeks of puzzle solving fun.
BTW>>>Because of many request, We added a counter which will keep track of how long it takes you to solve the 47 levels of puzzles....9-19-2009
If you find Daves Trails a little too hard then try 'Jills Trails' that is also here on GameJolt.com. That was the origional game that inspired Daves Trails.
Thank all of you for the many positive emails and words of encouragement. "Daves Trails" is now spreading across the web like a wild fire.

Long Story Short...I stumbled on the Trail Software in Europe.
Jills Trails had us going for a couple of hours.
When I got back to The States I discovered Daves Trails.
It had that same impact of being something that was So Different and that magnetic quality that just made you feel that you Had to get to the next level.
We Loved Them. -

YES!!
Everything about this puzzle game is just about perfect.
ColourWise and Shocker are close, but you hit the mark.
As a pure thinking puzzle, you nailed it! It's not one of those "Learn by trial and error puzzles that seem to flood the Internet". There are other puzzle games that have that quality also, but where you excelled was the simplicity of game operation. Everything that you need to know is right there in front of you on the screen and JUST a left mouse button click controls everything. (it seems to just somehow very slowly draw you in because operation is simple and there is no learning curve)
I won't even go into how much I like the way that your software runs on my computer. You already know that, and anyone that downloads the game will notice that Immediately.
I also liked the fact that I didn't feel like I was playing an arcade game.
I don't know exactly what I was feeling, but I liked it.
I'm VERY VERY GLAD that someone turned me on to Game Jolt. It seems that my little free time was stuck in a tucows rut.
Thanks Again,

Great Puzzles so far!
It's not a 5, but it's better than a 4.

Tried:
Psycho & Brotherel....Platformer.
ne touchez pas 3....arcade.
Visit II....Exploration.
Number & Matrix....What?
ColourWise...Learn by Trial & Error.
So what is So Different about Daves Trails?
As an X adventurer (I finally realized that I was just looking for the next puzzle in the adventure game).
So I started to just look for puzzle software.
Discovered some incredible stuff like Armadillo Run & Crazy Machines
to name a couple.
These are TRUE PUZZLE games.
They are based on Logic or Physics or a combination of the two.
Daves Trails is a breath of fresh air in the Puzzle Genre for people that JUST LOVE TO SOLVE PUZZLES!
IT IS JUST A PUZZLE PROGRAM! SIMPLE! THAT'S IT!
Finally, just a logic puzzle!
>You don't have to be taught things like what colors go together....
>You don't have to try jumping or exploring...
The concept is simple, the graphics are simple, the rules are simple.
But what this puzzle program has that most don't anymore is.....Simplicity and adhering to the rules of being a True Puzzle Program.
You don't need to learn new rules that pertain to a certain game.
You don't need to learn when to hold down the mouse and what moment you need to 'click' it.
You are just presented with a PUZZLE and have to solve it.
I Loved the provided music (although I found myself turning it off on the harder levels).
I thought that the backgrounds were lame in the beginning but found myself missing them ve -

Excellent!!
I've put this game on my home and work computers.
I like the fact that I can just leave them running in the background and they don't eat up ram. Then when I have a few moments, I try and complete another level.
The puzzles are Fantastically designed. Some that my daughter found easy had me stumped! (And vise versa). I've made a half dozen copies and given them to my friends and we noticed the same thing. Levels that some are finding very hard, others are finding very easy.
You wouldn't realize it by looking at it. The concept looks simple. It doesn't even seem to draw you in...........Until you start it!!
I can't count the number of times that I've said: "I'll just try it a few more minutes":)
One major thing that I didn't like was that after level 7 or so the backgrounds vanished. I emailed and they told me that the game would work fine through all 47 levels but that they had to delete pictures and music to make the file smaller.
Other than that, I have to give this software a Very High rating because: "I just Have To complete the next level"
We're no where near level 47, but I sure hope the folks are working on something else that is as addicting......
That's my comment.
Mind Lady.

Just downloaded and I LOVE this game already!!
Of course, I Love Puzzles.
It doesn't take over my computer. I can do other things while I have the game minimized and bring it back up when I have a few minutes because it runs in its own window!
I'm SO TIRED of all of the flash games that take over the entire screen, or you have to be logged on to play.
I'm only on level 6 but I'm definitely hooked already.
Thanks GameJolt!!
Daves Trails is a winner. -

Hey, it's great that you decided to offer up a stripped version of the game instead of not putting it on! Glad it's on the site!
