Pretty cool game, nice looking and simple. Great additions here and there to make it different level to level.

Hey, I played this game quite a few months ago when I read about it on indiegames.com. It's a great game and it easily deserves a 5! Good job!

Here's my original post about Saut:

"I really liked this game and I didn't have any problems with the controls, although it would've been nice to be able to use a different key to jump than the spacebar.

I loved the levels with lots of sliding around and double-jumping. Quite satisfying!

    All in all, good stuff."

I have updated the game again. I fixed the bumbing camera and any key can now be used to jump. I also changed the intro and credits songs for copyright reasons. Sorry if the new ones are a bit weak.

Quite enjoyable. Loved the style, of course, and the gameplay was nice, though perhaps not suited for a more general audience. It took a bit of time to understand that keeping your motion going keeps you alive (due to my style of playing games), but the game really picks up when you execute a whole level perfectly at top speed.

    Great game!

Hmm, it's not really about timing jumps, it's about simply learning the right sequence by repeatedly losing at the level until you figure the sequence out. I'll grant professional games often resort to this as well. I think it's pretty weak gameplay, since it's not about play it seems to be about but instead about memory. If there was more about a memory game it is and less time spent on unimportant twitch, I'd rate it a 4.

How come... each time I play it, I use a different sequence.

i agree with Callan: gameplay it repetive and boring. Speed is fun factor, like VIP, points and so on, but core gameplay is too poor.. http://adamatomic.com/canabalt/, for example tell a story, thing that Saut doesn't do :(
Telling a story and add more gameplay elements can improve this game. I give it 3 becaus graphics is to cool, perfect for this game and i like the idea, but you can (and must! :D ) do much more!

There will probably be a sequel of this game. Also, it has been done in less than one week.

I actually don't think it's about the sequence at all. For me it's always been about motion. Keep your forward motion going or you're screwed. Also, you can always see far enough ahead to know when to do small or longer jumps. If it was about just trial and error and the perfect sequence, I wouldn't be able to get through levels I've never seen before, but that's not the case.

It depends on whether the levels you've seen before are somewhat similar in structure to the previous levels. So you've learnt them in advance.

Or perhaps you can get practiced at it, but for me the first few levels were memorisation tasks.

I think learning the distances of character jumps and slides play a bigger role in the learning curve than memorizing the levels. Maybe a random level generator in the next version could prove that point :P The game is not harder than any classic platformer, but the controls are tough to get and the difficulty curve is a bit twisted.

Anyways, I think memorization should always be a small part in level-based skill games. I understand the frustration this game can create early in the game though.

Really enjoyed it! Just switch the level orders! SO hard at first.
