- Game Overview
Fetus is quite a strange and eerie Platforming experience that I made for Compo3.
(It contains mild-blood; but has NO nudity or harm to babies)
If you're curious to know a fairly brief (and probably grammatically terrible) story behind it, you can read about it here:

PLEASE NOTE
If you are getting really weird graphics problems going on, you need to restart your computer in order to view the game correctly. Game Maker likes to whine and complain when you use surfaces.

It was vague, atmosphere was simple but shudder worthy, and the fetus... *brrrrr*

I'm really sorry about the surface problems. Unfortunately, I'm not sure of a way to fix it right now, but one trick that I've noticed that sometimes works is restarting the computer. Unfortunately, that's no real substitute to getting to play right away. Thank you everyone for your comments, and I'm definitely going to use more caution before I ever use that method for surface drawing again.

I had the same problem with the surface rendering. All transparency ended up becoming white pixels instead. Because of that I had to have Blargh tape him playing through it so I could watch it. haha

I was less enthusiastic about this game; the vast majority of levels were made to seem deceivingly complicated, but really could be beaten by just holding the left or right arrow key. It stopped feeling like I'd solved any puzzles, and more like I was just watching the game mechanics do their stuff while I held down a button.
It didn't even feel very "minimal"--you said it was "minimal sense," but I thought that the color range was fairly decent and it wasn't like there was ever anything obscured onscreen. If the goal was to use minimal colors, then I'd have been impressed by a 2-color game; I've seen projects like that before. When I finished the game I thought the goal had been "minimal plot" or some such thing (and thought the game somewhat pretentious), until I found out that there was a multiparagraph backstory that involved fetusses, time machines, and undead catfish. What?
I also started getting a glitch late in the game with surface drawing; it started when I restarted a room, though I've forgotten which level. Each subsequent room failed to draw surfaces and ended up a smallish rectangle on the top left corner of the screen. I think I lost some of the ending's impact because of that, too :/
I said a lot of negative things because I wanted to be perfectly clear why I disagree with the other commenter. All of this said, it's not a bad game, it was an amusing diversion for a little while. Congratulations on placing!
