Adventure Apes and the Mayan Mystery

- Game Overview
A retro-inspired adventure platformer set in a Mayan temple, do you have what it takes to reach the Skull Demon??
This game is the first part in what will be a three-part series of Mitch's first ever mission, culminating in an epic showdown with everyones' nemesis; Horatio Hawk!
A fully illustrated instruction booklet is available in PDF form from these two pages:

However the basic controls are pretty easy...press enter to start the game, arrows to run/jump/roll (alternatively, 'Z' can be used to roll, and 'X' can be used to jump), 'A' to lift/throw blocks, 'S' to shoot, 'P' to pause, and use the space bar to cycle through your weapons. The rest will be explained in-game:)
P.S.: If you can manage to decode these fiendishly coded codes (just type the cracked code on the title screen), then you'll unlock a bunch of bonus weapons, and even get extra lives! Good luck!
Code 1: hxzibklgzgl
Code 2: yrthxzibklgzgl

Solid concept, well-implemented. It took me quite a few attempts to figure out/remember what was where, and I'm not sure if I even found all the things I was supposed to before facing the boss (not sure what the gray dot was for/recharged). (That's a compliment, by-the-by). Part of me wants to suggest implementing a map system but part of me also sees how that might detract from the game. Looking forward to level two.

Theodolite, you know, I never wanted to do the whole rolling thing in the first place, but it looks so much cleaner than my attempt at making a crawling animation! The glitch you mentioned is something I've only been able to duplicate a few times, and I think I've managed to clear it up with the latest version...I also went and added a couple cool new features for a little contest (win a shirt, yay!) Thanks for the feedback :)

Monkeys can't turn into spheres. Horrible game.
Just kidding it's very nice. I like the glitch that lets you stick to the ceiling maybe you could draw a sprite for that and add it as a feature? -

Thanks guys for the comments:)
-KniteBlargh, I've added the option for your preferred controls ( I might give the player an option to map out their own buttons one day, who knows!)
-Amidos, I'm glad that you liked the game so much! I like Spelunky also, but agree that it can be a little difficult. I did make the screen a little lighter so you can see a little more of the surroundings in the latest version.
-IndieGames Lite, thanks? I didn't know about that! I am a total rookie with all this stuff, but looked and couldn't see anything on the indiegames site. Maybe one day the Adventure Apes will get up on there:) -

This game's pretty fun; I liked it. The only things that bother me are the control scheme (I'd rather press something like x or z to jump than the up arrow key personally), and sometimes the main character can't jump if he's standing too close to a wall or block. Other than that, nice job, and the monkey's pretty darn cute. :)
