  • Hey everyone, seeing as how well QOG's contest went, I thought it'd be fun to try hosting one... one a bit different.

The point of this competition is to make a game using only 3 objects. So choose your coding wisely. I'll be judging based simply on how fun the game is. May the best game win (well, it will I guess anyway).

    Start Date: Now

End Date: July 31 11:59pm local time ( that is, your time ).

    The winner recieves:

An entry in my blog (read even less than QOG's), ***BLOG LINK***

A feeling of satisfaction and happiness for 1 to 3 days,

A picture of a trophy (I'm still drawing it, hold on!).

    Happy developing!

EDIT: Here's the trophy (will come with an email of authentification :)).

    Trohpy

  • This sounds like a fun short comp! Hmmm... Now I need to think about what three objects I want.

  • I have a fantastic idea for this, but, it's more suited to a very fast contest, so I'll have to leave it out.

If I get any more ideas, you may see an entry from me. :)

  • Define fast I suppose:D, You have until July 31, that's only... <looks at calender> 1 about week.

  • Just out of curiousity, how would you know if they used three objects or not? Will you need the source code?

  • QOGs Madness contest was two hours, which for me was fast, very fast.

Too much time and I will slack off until the last minute, and will hand in a game that is expected to be awesome because it is meant to take the whole time frame.

Not that you wouldn't expect my games to be awesome anyway ;)

    :D

    Edit:

I think that I will enter this contest with completely new material made within this week! :D

  • @ Ashley: Oh, I get it. That's ok.

@ Legendary Creations: I suppose it would be a trust system. If you're not trusted, don't join. If I'm flabbergasted at the game and can't believe you did it in 3 objects, I have the right to see your source code, though :D.

  • PJG, is there any chance of linking to your blog in your main post?
...Or should I just assume that it's at playjamesgames.com? :P

EDIT: I've found it at http://playjamesgames.blogspot.com/, perhaps you could change the background and font as I find it hard to read.

  • Oh, I see, sorry about the background, I'll tinker with it. Actually I prefer people to read my blog from here:

    http://www.playjamesgames.com/blog.html

I'll also put this link in the main post.

PS: Any graphics, sprites, or whatever you call them, don't count as objects... in case anyone was wondering. Only things with functions to them.

  • Sounds interesting. I may create an entry, though I'm quite busy currently.
  • Can I use less than 3 objects?

  • Your page is alot better now, easier to read. What are the chances of using a font that isn't retro on the blog though? Even if I don't enter your competition you'll have a more user-friendly website. :D

  • I have chosen my 3 objects! :P

objCouple ( I may be taking the theme a little further than most)

objControl (For the tutorial, spawning of enemies, and what not)

objEnemy (So its not boring xD)

  • I'm mostly done, despite having my copy of GM randomly revert to lite mode.

  • Great to see everyone coming along. I'm almost done a game too (don't worry, I won't judge myself the winner... unless the majority thinks so). I thought it'd be good to make one too... in the spirit of game developing...

Anyway, @ LC: Yes you can use less than 3... if you want.

PS: I'll be judging, but I'd like to here people's thoughts on who should win when the deadline passes (critiques please).

    - PJG
