New Game Jolt Weekend Jam

Forum Listing » Contests Forum » View Topic

  • The Jam has started. You can view all the jam streams and forum posts here:
    http://gamejolt.com/jam/

    When:

Starts Friday February 19 at 7:00 pm EST / Ends Sunday February 21 at 7:00 pm EST
(view the starting time in your timezone here, and the ending time here)

    Snapshots/Streaming

We think it'd be cool to have everyone jam together and be as transparent as possible. We'd like people to try to update snapshots of their games as they go. This can be fairly easily done with Dropbox. If you don't have a Dropbox account, it may be a good idea to get one early to test out how it all works.

Also, to give this the feeling of a live jam, let's try to set up some streaming (for those that have the bandwidth for it) of our desktops while we develop. Livestream is really freakin' easy to get started with and it didn't seem to bog down my computer or use up too much bandwidth. It'll also stream sound over (if you'd like), so for anyone doing music, we'll be able to hear you.

I'll also have a contest topic set up for the Jam, and I'd encourage people to post images of their games as they're developing them in that topic. It'd be sweet to go back and look at the progression of everything.

    Participants

I'll record the participants here. What they'd like to do for the contest (program, art, music), and whether they'd be up to working in a team or not. If you're not on the list yet, you should post saying what you'd like to do and if you're a team guy.

  • 90% chance of entering, GO FOR ITOH U!

(Feb 19th weekend would work best for me, cause it's winter break, 13th weekend is meh cause of valentines day)

  • This coming Friday would be perfect... well, every Friday would be good. :)

  • I'll have to check my classes to see when tests are. I'll get back to ya.

  • This coming weekend, the weekend after that, the one after that or the one after that are the best for me in February. :)

Sounds awesome though, will certainly be wanting into these.

  • Valentines weekend is probably bad for me. I can't say much about the one beforehand either. ;-)

  • I probably would attempt it depending on my circumstances

  • hm. Any weekend this coming month other than the last weekend should do fine for me

  • Not entirely sure of my February schedule, but any weekend is probably fine. :3

  • I would try to enter but the probability of that happening is slimmer than things.

  • Count me in.

  • I'm (probably) in, but I'd prefer to know well in advance which weekend it is, even if we don't know the theme until the time.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I just realized I go back to the soul crushing abyss of University near the end of Feb... so yeah... as far as dates go, preferably not after the 25th.

  • So more of a jamming session, a-la the Poppenkast competitions, than a proper contest and I guess the only prize is the recognition for winning this?

  •  Just about any weekend this month other than Valentine's Day weekend (or whatever it's called). Sounds awesome though!

  • I'm thinking either this current weekend (the 6th), but that's not much time to prepare, or the weekend of the 20th, which is somewhat far away. I'd rather not plan it from Valentine's Day weekend. I think I'm going to be calling these babies Weekend Jams. I think we should set up Livestreams of our computers so people can see us messing around and working on our games. I checked out Livestream, and it's pretty easy to set up, and we could just have it put out a frame once every 2 seconds or so, so it's more like quick snapshots. This way it doesn't bog our computer down much.

What do you guys think of that?
