Indie Game Website

  • Hello, my name Is Thomas and I have been working on a website for a while now. It is getting close to completion and I was wondering If I could get some feedback of the concept.

The idea is that the website will share Indie news, promote Indie games and there developers whilst archiving all of the games into lists. Each game will have its own profile along with its developer.

Lets say somebody is bored. They want to play a game but they don't have cash to buy a game. They load up the website, see the front page news. Maybe nothing there interests them. So now they can look into the lists of games. Lets say they click "Free to Play" They are then presented with a list of Free to Play Indie games in alphabetical order.

I think this could be usefull especially for somebody who loves Indie games and is looking for new titles to play.

I would love it to get to a point where Indie game developers can E-mail us here at ICG and ask for a spotlight or a featured slot. I really want this to help Indie game developers get noticed. That is the whole aim.

Thanks for reading. Feedback is appreciated.

  • I think you just described game jolt...

  • No you have mis understood. Game Jolt is fuled by a user base. This is primarily a news site promoting finished Indie games and they're developers. I am talking a developer you have never heard of on the front page in a featured slot, next to big releases.

Plus it is a news site with articles and so on that will talk about gaming and tech in general.

  • Sounds somewhat like Game Jolt. Maybe we just organize things terribly, but we try to feature some of the more obscure games as well as bigger ones, and any developer can submit news for their games or just in general. We also pull news articles from other blogs on the net and aggregate them into one place. And every game has it's own page archived forever.

  • It is thoroughly noted that it is somewhat similar to Game Jolt. But at the same; totally different. I also noticed that Game Jolt only promotes flash games. Correct me if I am wrong I found this site because I was looking for feedback on my website.

  • Flash games are actually rarely promoted on the site. We have a more active downloadable developer base than anything else: http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/

  • Thanks for that I had no idea. I will check out that page now.

Sure that will give the game publicity, but I am talking on a massive massive scale!

Let me create an image in your head.

You load the page, there is time scrolling box with 5 different pages. The first will read "La la - brand new Indie game"  etc. but then you are able to access gaming and tech news, interviews, Developer spotlights, Journalist's blog etc.

Plus I can tell you, If I had created a title and needed big sales I wouldnt get it. That is what this site is about. Not giving some publicity but giving as much as possible.

  • Yeah, I like it. That's kind of what Game Jolt will be evolving into, though. So it'd be great to have you along for the ride, if you'd like! Yush!

  • Sure we will see what happens. Don't get me wrong I am not knocking this site. It's clearly doing a great deal for the community.
