Hello, Quick question, how do remakes of classic arcade games stand on the spectrum of okayness? Is there some legal issue (as there is the possibilty of revenue from gamejolt)?
If it is not allowed, then how different does a game have to be to be allowed? Is it allowed to still be inspired by the classic with just added features, or does it have to be completely different?
Thanks

Is it fine if I just try my luck and if it gets removed then ok?

Go for it. If it's an obvious rip-off then it's more likely to be removed.

But does a clone count as a rip-off? if I am completely upfront saying it is a remake tribute, does that still count as a rip off?

It's allowed, but as I said the more obvious (or popular) it is, the more likely we are to receive a DMCA request.
